Genuine Ohlins Factory Updated/Upgraded Gold End Caps for the 1978-1985 Ohlins Rear Twin Shocks Seal Heads.
NOTE: This gold end cap must be used when re-building your rear shocks using the new style rebuild seal kit. In 1985 Ohlins stopped making the early style Seal heads (1978-1982) for the remote reservoir and early piggyback shocks. This new design used on the New 1983-1985 Husqvarna Ohlins "ITC" style rear shock was superior and retro fit back to all Ohlins Twin Shocks, 1978 and newer.
To re-build a pair of earlier style Ohlins (1978-80 Remote reservoirs with the hoses & the 1981-82 Piggy-back), all you needed to do to accommodate this up-graded seal head was to go to the later Gold shock body end cap. Not a big difference, it is 6mm deeper, however the earlier cap will not fit back on once the new seal head is used.
This later Piggyback cap may already be on your early remote Ohlins. It is identified by light gold color and a body groove (this groove allows for a much easier removal of the end cap). The earlier caps were a simple, low profile design which were difficult to remove, as you have to dig in between the cap and body to tap out of body resulting in tool marks & gouges.
